Reflection on my Science Practical

For 2P02, I learnt many interesting things in my first science practical. Firstly, we touched on acids and alkalis. This is the first time we learned about them, and it is very useful to know what they are, as I have been puzzling over them for a long time. What more, their pH values correspond with whether they are strong or weak, and how well they can conduct electricity. Secondly, many new laboratory apparatus were introduced. These include red and blue litmus paper, for testing acids and alkalis, and the many different liquids. I had a fun time experimenting with all the different liquids, which produced different colors when combined together and varied results with litmus paper. What more, after a quick experiment, I realized that water is entirely different from de-ionized water in terms of chemical properties. When combined with sodium hydroxide, they produced different colors, showing different pH values!
